For the first time since college (which is really kind of surprising when I think about it) Rachel, Beth and I planned a weekend get away, just the three of us. We spent two nights in Canon Beach and popped over to Vancouver for Beth's baby shower on the way home. The weekend consisted of driving while listening to one of Rachel's epic play lists, reminiscing about our college days and having wonderful conversations. We watched two movies, shopped around town and ate at multiple restaurants. These common things have all become luxuries since Wes was born. Cannon Beach Spa took us on the "journey of the zen master" foot spa treatment and we enjoyed a long walk down the beach, culminating at the iconic haystack rock.
Beth is pregnant and after struggling with infertility I was so glad to be able to share in her pregnancy joy. Pregnancy is such a unique and special time. Beth is my favorite kind of pregnant person, light hearted, real and not overly dramatic. I can't wait to meet baby Fiona and watch her become a mama.
Shaving out time to be together is no longer easy or particularly convenient, but it is important. I believe there is always time for the things that we make a priority in our lives and Rachel and Beth will always make the cut. Time with them is good for my soul, they are my soul sister indeed. They inspire me with their kindness, love and generosity. There is nothing like being with people who know your heart, know your history, love you unconditionally and pray for your future. I know that no matter what life brings these two will always be there to support and encourage me. I'm incredibly grateful for our friendship and the lovely weekend we spent together.
This trip was absolutely good for the soul! I know that once baby Fiona arrives, my trips home will be less frequent, and time will be harder to arrange, but we will always make time together a priority when we can! Love you two ladies like sisters!!!
