Rach, Beth and I embarked on our second semi-annual trio trip this October. We choose Las Vegas for the shows and sunshine. We collectively love the performing arts and as moms getting to live events is few and far between. The last time the three of us were in Vegas together was my bachelorette party and the stark contrast between the actives on these two trips is a perfect articulation of how much our lives have changed over the years. In 2009 we spent two hours getting ready and danced at clubs until the wee hours of the morning. This trip we were asleep before midnight and had two or three drinks the whole weekend. It was exactly what we needed. Beth generously treated us to dinner at Hell's kitchen and it was arguably the best meal I've ever had. We saw Cirque Dis Olea's Michael Jackson tribute show, "One" and "Absinthe," which left me with an aching jaw from laughing so hard. We laid in the sun, got a "foot" massage in China town, had meaningful conversations and named Beth's baby ;)
When the three of us are together we leave with our souls nourished. The brief reprieve from normal working mom life left us refreshed and grateful. Having time away to be nothing but myself is such a gift, and by the end of the weekend I was more than ready to come home and feel the weight of my babies in my arms. These two are the best friends a girl could ever ask for and spending time with them makes me a better person. From our crazy college days to the magic and difficulty of marriage and motherhood, there they are. And as we dream about the future, I know they'll continue to show up with the same steadfast love and loyalty.
